EP-0009 - Needles and Pins - cross-stitch x-stitch needlepoint flosstube

Hello, and welcome to The Stitching Kitchn! Ok. Stitching Kitchn friends! We're going to rock and roll today. See my t-shirt? Whoooo! And my earrings? We're going to talk about needles and pins. There are lots of different needles with lots
of different eyes and lots of different points.

In cross-stitch and needlepoint, we mainly
use a tapestry needle. This is a good example, right there, of a
bigger tapestry needle. But, you see the round point right here? That's the most important thing. Then, for other embroidery work, you need
a sharp.

Because denser fabric requires you puncturing
the fabric with the needle. As long as you don't puncture your finger. And then you have beading needles. They're little teeny needles ...

Little teeny
needles ... Little teeny needles. I have some of those right here. See those little teeny needles? Those will also puncture your finger really
badly.

So, you have to be very careful when you're
using your needles. In a future episode, not too far down the
line, a couple weeks, I'm going to show you the relationship between all these needles
and your thread and fabric. Also, today I wanted to talk to you about
pins. In another episode (Episode 07), I think it
was "counting", I mentioned a little pin that had a bead on the top.

Now that's important as you're counting your
threads, counting from the back, you're ready to come up ... You look away ... I don't know
what the heck happens ... You come up and you're not on the right thread.

So, these little needles are really good for
sticking into the fabric. They help you know exactly where you need
to come up with your needle. Now, I ... Want to show you a few fun ones
that you can either make yourself or buy at your local needlework shop.

And this one right here was made by my good
friend Gina Figeuroa. And it's available ... Was available in her
Etsy shop. It might not be available now.

But, she has tons of stuff there. So, you need to go see her. "Gina's Unique Boutique" (on Etsy). So, these are wonderful little accessories
to have.

And, I, as you can see, have a few, but that's
not all. So, that's it for this episode. And, I'm going to rock and roll in the next
episode. So, catch me next week! I'm going to show you how to figure out what
size fabric to use for your pattern.

So many of them give you nine by twelve, fourteen
and a half by ....
